The poet and the text:
Jean Giono (1895 -1970) was a French author who wrote works of fiction mostly set in the Provence region of France.
জিওনো (১৮৯৫ -১৯৭০) ছিলেন একজন ফরাসী লেখক যিনি বেশিরভাগ ফ্রান্সের প্রোভেনস অঞ্চলে রচিত কল্পকাহিনী রচনা করেছিলেন।
His most noted works are The Horseman on the Roof, Two Riders of the Storm etc.
তাঁর সর্বাধিক উল্লেখযোগ্য রচনাগুলি হ’ল ‘দ্য হর্সম্যান অন দ্য রুফ’, ‘টু রাইডার অফ দ্য স্টর্ম’ ইত্যাদি।
The present text is adapted from his famous work of the same name, which has been translated into English by Peter Doyle.

About forty years ago I went on a long hike, through hills absolutely unknown to tourists, in that very old region where the Alps penetrate into Provence.

Why do you think the village was abandoned?
Ans: I think the villagers of that area gradually cut down the vegetation of that area. As a result of the deforestation in that area, the rainfall was decreasing day by day and finally raining was stopped. So the villagers migrated somewhere else and the village was abandoned.

Ans: He pounded his iron rod into the ground to make a hole, placed an acorn in it, and then covered the hole again.
